Arlawaine Peterson Johnson LaFontaine, who always devoted herself to her family, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on August 25, 1932, in Klossner, MN. She was the daughter of John and Selma Peterson. She attended grade school at a country school in rural Nicollet County, MN and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1950.
After working in a Minneapolis shoe store, she married Quentin M. Johnson of LaFayette, MN on August 31, 1950. They lived in Klossner and raised three daughters. Quentin passed away in 1958. She married Frank P. LaFontaine on April 15, 1967, and a daughter was born to them. Frank’s employment took them to Arkansas, Louisiana, and Wyoming. He was the master mechanic for Peter Kiewit at Rosebud Coal Sales Company in Hanna, Wyoming, for many years. They spent their retirement years traveling with their RV around the country visiting family and friends. Frank passed away on July 6, 2004.
Arlawaine enjoyed sharing her past times of cake decorating including wedding cakes, sewing, floral design, and cooking for her family. She was an active member of her Lutheran Church and community and enjoyed living close to her daughters and grandchildren in Greeley, Colorado.
Thankful to have shared her life are her daughters, Linda (David) Noe, Cindy Reimer, and Lauri LaFontaine. Also, by seven grandchildren, Martin (Cynthi) Herrmann, Christine (Michael) Iadarola, Michael Noe, Amanda (Joshua) Rodgers, Kristen (Geoffrey) Dean, Caitlin (Keegan) Fuller, and Alexander Geslin and by five great-grandchildren, Hailey and Matthew Ellis, Lily and Grace Iadarola, and Kasper Herrmann. She is also survived by her son-in-law John Herrmann, grandson-in-law Bradley Ellis, her brother and sister in-law Walter and Charlene LaFontaine and several relatives.
Graveside services will be on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 2 o’clock in Hanna, Wyoming.
