Belle Hansen

July 7, 1936 — April 12, 2023

Brunswick, Maine

On April 12th, 2023, our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt was welcomed into the arms of Jesus who she loved so much. How blessed she is to be truly seen and heard as her own hearing, sight, and mind is fully restored. She was born in Novinger, MO on July 7, 1936 and moved to Wheatland, WY in her youth. She graduated from Rawlins High School - Rawlins, WY and attended Central Bible College – Springfield, MO. She married her one and only true love, Harvey Hans Hansen on December 27, 1959.

She was strong-willed, feisty, playful, even silly, and had a tender heart so big that many found comfort and support in her arms and at her table. She loved deeply and completely always giving, never stopping to think about how it would be repaid to her. She was an avid reader and master seamstress spending hours making clothes, wedding dresses, quilts, and costumes for school productions & grandchildren. She was an educator at heart, teaching Sunday School, teaching her children, grandchildren, and countless others self-care (cleanliness truly was next to Godliness), how to read, sew, cross stitch, embroidery, cook, and bake. She loved serving others, including working at the community soup kitchen, men’s prayer breakfasts, and her work with St Joseph’s Catholic Church Pro Life Group.

Summer days were filled playing with her grandchildren, vacation Bible school, gardening, picking apples, and berries to make her famous jams. She loved spending time in the mountains and going for walks even in subzero temperatures. Early morning breakfasts were accompanied by reading and memorizing Bible scriptures with her children and grandchildren. Sundays and Wednesdays always found her at church supporting her husband and congregation. She loved her family fiercely and was so proud of all of their accomplishments, always showing up for important events.

She is preceded in death by her parents-George Franklin and Margaret Lyle Lambert; Siblings-Leo, Pete, David, Joseph, Charles, Menerva, Pauline, George, Venita, and Delores; Son-John Mark Hansen; Grandchildren-Seth Ryan and Shawn Tyler Hansen.

She is survived by her most loved companion of 65 years-Harvey Hans Hansen-Brunswick, ME; Her brothers-Paul (Denison, TX) and Raymond (Cheyenne WY); Sister Lois (Douglas, WY); Children-Frank (Sarah) Hansen (Brunswick, ME), Larendee (Mark) Roos (Chino Hills, CA),  Shalia (Chris) Andrews (Vancouver, WA), and Greggory Hansen (Portland, OR). Grandchildren-Anson, Sara, Aaron, Lindsay, Sabrina, Joshua (Kem) Call, Breana (Tyler) Clay, Hillary, and Warren Roos; Charlotte (Chris) Schofield, Phoebe (James) Pray, Caleb, Zachary, and Sara Hansen; Bethany, Kayla, Melody and Daniel Andrews; Jessica Wilson; and 15 great grandchildren.
