Beverly Patricia Forrest, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 25, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Rawlins, Wyoming. She is now home with Jesus.
Beverly was born on February 6, 1940 in Shafter, California to Reynold and Catherine Duerhen. They moved to Bakersfield, California where Beverly grew up, went to school and met her soon to be husband, Norman. She married Norman Forrest on June 2, 1966 in Bakersfield, California. They were married for 54 years, until Norman’s passing in 2021. Together they had daughter, Kathleen, and two sons from Beverly’s previous marriage.
Beverly excelled in school and had taken many, many college courses from Bakersfield College, Western Wyoming Community College and the University of Wyoming. Beverly was an extremely talented artist who loved to paint, do ceramics, drawing sketches and China painting to list just a few. She inherited her artistic side from her amazing father, Reynold. In the 70’s, she and her husband owned and operated Beverly’s Ceramics in Bakersfield, California. Her husband was a California Highway Patrolman at the time but poured ceramics for their business on a daily basis.
They had a desire to move to Rawlins, Wyoming in 1979 after several years of traveling to Wyoming for the hunting and fishing, and to escape the rat race of the big city. They loved going fishing out South, snowmobiling in the Snowy Range, and hunting wherever they drew their tags. They loved all the wildlife that surrounds us in Carbon County. Soon after they moved to Rawlins, they opened a flower and gift shop called “The Flower Basket”, in which Beverly owned and operated for many years. In 1989, they moved outside of Rawlins city limits to 40 acres they had purchased so they could have horses, a few goats and chickens on their own little farm. She absolutely adored the wild horses around Wyoming.
Beverly started her new job at the Bureau of Land Management in Rawlins around 1992. She worked there for 26 years until she retired in 2018.
Beverly loved to go to lunch on a daily basis with everyone! She was a huge fan of Chinese, Thai and Mexican food restaurants and was a frequent flyer of Anongs, Cloverleaf, Su Casa, and Square Shooters restaurants.
The biggest and most important thing in her life by far was her love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was always a loving, kind, caring, and compassionate God-fearing woman who could make friends with anyone. She constantly blessed family, friends, and anyone in need. She had a small guesthouse on their property that she opened up to anyone that had a need, or needed a place to stay. She never, not once, charged anyone rent or utilities to stay there, with one gal living there for over 5 years. She said she was sowing seeds into the Kingdom of God. It was her giving nature to always bless people, and she did it well. She was laying up treasure in heaven, for only her to see once she made her final destination to heaven. She attended church services regularly with her daughter Kathleen always by her side. Her spiritual family meant the world to her and her blessings went far and wide through the Christian community in several states. Oh how she loved Jesus!!! It was one of her best qualities and it was displayed daily in her life. Her daughter promised her that she would always take care of her until her dying day. Beverly was fortunate to have lived her life, on her property, until February of 2025, when she moved in with Kathleen and her husband Greg. Kathleen was not only her daughter, but her best friend. She had the BEST home healthcare nurses one could only hope for. They found her to be a joy to take care of as Kathleen was now her full-time caretaker.
Beverly was the most beautiful soul, she was beautiful inside and out. She will be greatly missed. She was a beloved Nana to her amazing grandson, Stephen (Abby) Reames and her great-grandchildren that consisted of Bristol Buckingham (John), Stephen Jr., Layla, and Lincoln Reames. All of her great-grandchildren would spend quality time around her kitchen table, drawing love notes and sticking them all over her kitchen and dining room. She absolutely adored that!
Beverly was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband Norman. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Greg) Reames, grandson Stephen (Abbi) Reames of Wamsutter, Wyoming, and 4 great-grandchildren, Bristol Buckingham, Stephen Jr., Layla, and Lincoln Reames. She also leaves her beloved dog Toby, as her protector and watchdog whom she spoiled on a regular basis.
Services will be held September 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Harvestime Ministries (her second home) located on the corner of 9th and Walnut street. There will be food provided downstairs at the church following the service.
