Carl Hermel

February 26, 1958 — September 4, 2014

Carl Ray Hermel, 56, of Rawlins, WY passed away at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County on September 4, 2014. He fought and suffered a year-long struggle with melanoma cancer. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 8, 2014 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Rawlins. Pastor Marvin Temme and Pastor Terry Wiley will officiate. Scattering of his ashes will be done by family and close friends. Carl was born in Newport, RI on February 26, 1958. Graduating from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, WY, he continued a three-year study as a diesel mechanic in trade school. Carl was married to Maxine Crawford Hermel. This union lasted eight and a half years. Carl worked as a gas and diesel mechanic for the Wyoming Department of Transportation for nine-and-a-half years. Prior to this, he worked for Art Zeigar Enterprises in Saratoga for twenty-five years. His great enjoyments in life were Nascar, racing his Subaru Brat (with many win trophies), his work at WyDot, and spending time in the mountains. Carl is survived by his wife, Maxine Crawford Hermel; daughter, Julie Ann Fruen (Chris) of Denison, TX; brother, Chris Hermel (Melody) of Casper, WY; brother, Robert Hightower (Melissa) of Liberty Hills, TX; sister, Pam Miller (Daryl) of Vanderbilt, MI; stepchildren, Tim Enloe of Kentucky, Tametha Myers and Tisha Coffman, both of Story; and many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hermel; mother, Janice Hightower; and stepson, Shawn Enloe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maxine Hermel, 113 W. Center St., Rawlins, WY 82301. The Hermel family wishes to thank Rocky Mountain Oncology for all their care, support, and time spent with us as friends.
