Carl Olof Matson

Carl Matson passed away November 4, 2023 at Rawlins Rehabilitation and Wellness at the age of 81.

He was born August 30, 1942, in Hanna, Wyoming, the son of Carl and Edna Matson.

He grew up in Elk Mountain, graduating from Hanna/Elk Mountain High School. After graduation, he worked for various ranches around the area and also was employed at Rosebud Coal.  

Carl married Maxine Leach on November 5, 1973 and then moved to their ranch near Chugwater, Wyoming. Maxine passed away in 2005 and a few years after her death, Carl sold the ranch and moved to Sinclair, Wyoming to be closer to family.

He was in the Army, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1969.

He is survived by his sisters Marie Walbye of Fort Collins, Colorado and Nellie Jones of Elk Mountain, Wyoming plus several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine. His sisters Julia, Phyllis, Rowena and Ruth and 4 nephews and 1 niece.

Carl will be laid to rest with private family services at a later date.
