Charles Oliver

Charles Hubert Oliver, more commonly known as "Sonny" to most, was born January 10, 1937, to Violet Delesi and James R. Oliver in Hardin, Montana. Sonny grew up in Hardin and graduated from Fromberg Montana High School. Sonny was drafted into the Army in 1959. He was stationed in Tacoma, Washington, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. Charles married Mary Katherine Vehar on July 3, 1959 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Sonny and Mary would have been married 54 years on July 3. They had five children. During their marriage, Sonny and Mary and their children made their home in Craig, Colorado, Rawlins, Wyoming, and finally settled in Bairoil and Lamont, Wyoming, in 1979. Sonny worked in the oilfield and construction industries most of his life. He worked in most of the western states over the years, including Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, Utah, and North Dakota. Around 1990, Sonny became self-employed as an Oilfield Consultant. In addition to work, Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, working in his shop and going gambling and to auctions. Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary K. and children, Eugene Oliver, Victor Oliver, Debra (Jeff) McCormack, Jennette (Walter) Hagan and Pat (Nikki) Oliver. He has numerous natural grandchildren and a few honorary grandchildren. He also has two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, David Oglsebee and sisters, Estelle Channell and Betty Farlow and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters (Jennette Lackman Lee and Phyllis Rogers) and his brother (Jimmy Oliver). A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Rawlins. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the American Heart Association.
