David Erickson

January 19, 1956 — July 21, 2017

David E. Erickson of Rawlins, Wyoming, was born January 19, 1956, in Laramie, Wyoming and passed away on July 21, 2017 at MHCC after a short and valiant battle with cancer. David received his high school diploma from Casper's NCHS in 1974, his B.A. from the University of Wyoming in 1978 and his Juris Doctorate in 1981. He began his legal career in Rawlins, Wyoming, on June 5, 1981, and accepted the honor of becoming Municipal Court Judge on February 7, 1989. David enjoyed spending time with family, watching baseball, golfing, attending University of Wyoming basketball and football games, collecting coins, baseball cards, but most of all, traveling with his wife of 41 years, Ginger. With all of these activities he was still able to be an active member of the LIONs and ELKs organizations. David was well respected within the community and a person of deep ethics, morals, and values. His dry sense of humor followed him throughout every role he played within the community, with his family, friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Hortense "Mickey" Harrison and his father, William A. Erickson. He is survived by his wife, Ginger; daughter, Andy; son, Christopher; his mom, Elaine Erickson; siblings, Bret (Janine), Jamie, Todd (Sally), Eric (Beth,) and Rob (Stephi), his daughter's husband, Eric Overman; grandchildren, Samantha, Easton and Eli; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers or plants, please make donations to your favorite charity. David was very fond of animals, fallen soldier charities, the University of Wyoming Law School, and the University of Wyoming Cowboy Joe Club. When his memorial service is announced, David would not want anyone wearing black; wear vibrant colors in celebration of his life.
