Eddie Joe Schinkel

March 10, 1955 — April 7, 2025

Rawlins, WY

Eddie Joe Schinkel, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on March 10, 1955, in Laramie, Wyoming, Eddie's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and remarkable memories.

Eddie graduated from Rawlins High School in 1973, where he began to show the tenacity and hard work that would define his career as a pipeline welder for several companies, as well as in self-employment. His dedication to his craft was matched only by the warmth of his spirit and the joy he found in being outdoors, particularly in the mountains. He cherished hunting season at the cabin, a time filled with great cooking and even greater fun. These memories are a testament to his love for adventure and his appreciation of nature.

Eddie had a memorable smile and a distinct laugh that could light up any room. He supported his family wholeheartedly in every endeavor, always there to encourage and show love for those around him. His pride in his family was apparent, especially in his proudest accomplishments. He built a beautiful cabin with his own hands at a young age and volunteered as a firefighter at an early age with the Carbon County Fire Department, embodying the spirit of service and community.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Twana Schinkel; his mother, Lauralee "Lolly" Schinkel; his sister, Danette (Tom) Toth; his brother, Kerry Schinkel; and his children, Joelyn (Kevin) Cook, Travis (Jessica) Schinkel, Danielle (Troy) Wilcox, and Michael (Sammie) McVay. Eddie took immense joy in being a grandfather to his precious grandchildren: McKennon, Kipton, Declan, Delaney, Bently, Brooklyn, Taylor, Nathan, and Brynlee. He also leaves behind nephews Dan Neuman, Rory Neuman, and Kerry Schinkel II, along with several cousins, aunts, and uncles who will forever remember him with love.

Eddie is predeceased by his father, Daniel Leo Schinkel, whose spirit lives on in Eddie’s enduring legacy of kindness and strength.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Rawlins Elks Lodge #609, located at 405 W. Buffalo Street, Rawlins, Wyoming.
