Elmer Cooper

November 10, 1936 — May 29, 2014

Elmer P. Cooper, 77, long-time Carbon County resident, passed away May 29, 2014, at Deseret Health Care in Saratoga. Services will be held at 11 a.m. June 11, at Saratoga Cemetery Chapel, and will be conducted by friend and fellow school mate, Teense Willford. He will be honored by his friends in the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department. Interment with military honors will follow. Elmer was born in Laramie Nov. 10, 1936. He graduated in 1954 from Platte Valley High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. Throughout his life he was always interested in equipment and worked as a mechanic and welder. He owned and operated A-OK Concrete in Saratoga and was employed by Mobile Premix in Rawlins until his retirement in 2010. He joined the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department in 1954 and was an active member of the Department for 60 years, where he served in numerous positions and was the hazmat specialist. Survivors include K. Powd and Mary Ann Boles of Hanna; numerous cousins; and good friends, Brad Cary and Don Herold. Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Cooper and mother, Kate (Dolling) Cooper. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Scholarship Fund.
