Erma Lee Hanson was born on May 6, 1942 in Saratoga, Wyoming. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on March 31, 2026.

On July 20, 1966, Erma married the love of her life, Tom Hanson. Together they built a life centered around family, resilience, and devotion.

Erma was a dedicated and loving caregiver, especially to her son Tom, who was diagnosed with spinal meningitis at a young age. To support his needs the family moved to Casper, Wyoming so he could attend the Wyoming School for the Deaf and later furthered his education at the school for Deaf and Blind in Ogden, Utah. At that time Tom and Erma returned home to Saratoga.

Erma shared a deep and enduring bond with her mother Lorna. The two spent much of their time together, and in her mother's later years, Erma lovingly cared for her, just as she did for many elderly women in the Valley.

She was a constant presence in the lives and work of her family. When Tom and their son Sterling founded Squirrel Tree Wood Product and worked in the timber industry, Erma spent countless hours alongside them often riding in a log truck along winding logging roads while crocheting. She also supported her son Randy in his business, A&B Auto Body, by helping with the bookkeeping. No matter what her daughter Becky pursued, Erma was always there, offering her support and help.

Erma is survived by her children and their families: Her son Sterling and Denise Arnold, their 2 boys and 6 great grandkids. Her son Randy and Debbie Arnold, their 2 boys and 2 grandkids. Her daughter Becky, her 2 boys, daughter, and 6 great grand kids. She is also survived by her sister Ruthie and Bob Blake.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband Tom Hanson, her son Tom Hanson, her parents, Ernest and Lorna Bensen, her brothers Louis Bensen and Len Bensen, and her sister in law Pat Bensen.

Erma will be remembered for her quiet strength, her generous heart, and the unwavering dedication to her family and community.
