George Ernest Hooker

George Ernest Hooker, age 84, passed away March 1, 2024. He was born in Rawlins, Wyoming on July 21, 1939, to Streeta and Ruth Hooker. When he was young, he moved to Arizona with his mother and lived there until her death when he was 16. He moved back to Rawlins to work with his father in his plumbing business. When he was 18, he went to work for Condict Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming. He met and married Cheryl Herring in 1961. They were the parents to daughter Carol, and sons George and Joseph, and daughter, Melinda that died at birth in 1964. His wife, Cheryl passed away on 1987. He met and married Sharon Hays in 1992. She passed away in 2003. In 2006, George moved to Fort Collins to be with his partner Cassie Neumann until a fall put him in rehab in 2019, he moved back to Wyoming in 2020 to live in Rawlins Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. George worked on ranches, in the coal mines in Hanna, Wyoming, and drove trucks around the country. He loved to tinker on things and play with his miniature train sets. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards and putting together puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, half-sisters; Kathy Davidson, Linda Rodabaugh, and half-brother Jonathan Hooker. Also, two half-sisters in Arizona.

He is survived by his daughter Carol Kelley (Steve) of Rawlins, sons George Hooker (Susan) of Saratoga, and Joseph Hooker (Sarah) of Casper. Grandchildren Karen (Ryan) Buford, Kristen (Brad) Dirck, Sarah (Kyle) Laughlin, Lacy (Jake) Calzavara, Michelle (Andy) Hamby, Matthew, Jonathan, and Gabriel Hooker, and step grandson, Connor. Great-Grandchildren Lauren Buford (Eric Engstrom), Edward Buford, Jamie and Brayden Dirck, Sawyer, and Declan Laughlin. Great, Great-Grandson Soren Hamby and coming in April, Baby Girl Calzavara. His partner Cassie Neumann of Fort Collins. Half-sisters Virginia Hanks and Mary Ann Goodro. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

His remains have been cremated and the family will have a private burial at a later date.
