Harold Pate

April 18, 1931 — April 24, 2014

Harold Eugene Pate, 83, passed away on April 24, 2014, due to complications following knee surgery. He was born in Green River, Wyoming on April 18, 1931, to Ernest and Lorene (Cudney) Pate. Harold grew up in Rawlins, Wyoming, where he graduated from Rawlins High School and played on their State Championship football team. He was in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and valiantly served his country in England during the Korean War. He was married to Janet Stubbs and was blessed with two children, Dick and Colleen. A new chapter began when he married the love of his life, Karen Willis Pate, and added Cheryl, Mitch, Brenda and Carri into his family. He worked for the US Postal service for 34 years, well known by many as "Putt-Putt." Walking, fishing and the outdoors were some of his passions, however spending time with his family and helping others was what brought Harold true joy. He was smitten by his grandchildren and loved to make them smile. He willingly served others and volunteered his time and skills, coaching many children in little league baseball and football. He was an avid and loyal Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, and Wyoming Cowboys fan. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Dick (Holly McConnell) Pate, Colleen (Dana) Angell, Cheryl (Elton) Garvin, Mitch (Pam) Rhoads, Brenda (Steve) Heiner, and Carri (Steve) Anderson; his sisters, Alice (Bob) Garvin and Barbara (Phil) Stewart; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Anna Lou. Serving Harold as pallbearers will be Connor Anderson, Kaleb Anderson, Kurtis Garvin, Kody Garvin, Kaden Heiner, Ryley Heiner, Griffen Pate, and Max Rhoads. Ed Webber and Bob Garvin will serve as honorary pallbearers.
