Henry Petersen, resident of Rawlins Wyoming, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland Colorado on April 8, 2023 at the age of 86.
Henry was born in Rawlins Wyoming to John and Dagny (Adrian) Petersen on August 25, 1936. He graduated from Rawlins High School in 1955, then served in the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1956 to run the family business, Petersen’s Service Yard, after his father suffered a heart attack.
On October 5, 1957, Henry married Karen (Schoeber). They subsequently purchased Petersen’s Service Yard in 1957 and continued to serve the community until 2010.
They welcomed their first daughter, Dorreen, in June of 1958 and their second daughter, Laureen, in June of 1963. Henry was extremely proud of his daughters, and their accomplishments throughout their lives.
Henry enjoyed spending time with his family boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, fishing, and traveling. He also enjoyed golfing and socializing with his friends.
Henry was a lifetime member of the BPOElks and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Henry is leaving a vacancy in the hearts of his wife of 65 years, Karen, daughters Dorreen Davis, and Laureen (Mike) Shultz, granddaughter Shannon Davis, and great granddaughter Uriyah Corbitt.
Additional surviving relatives include his special nephew Dick (Margaret) Karstoft, niece Peggy Karstoft, nephew Bruce (Barbara) Petersen, and extended family member Jodie Shultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dagny, sisters Eda Karstoft, and Elsie Townsend, brother Kay Petersen, niece Earlene Chapman, and son-in-law Harold Davis.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Rawlins Cemetery Pavilion at 1pm. Cremation and services will be provided by Casada Funeral Home & Crematory, Rawlins, Wyoming.
