Jack Bertolas

March 20, 1944 — November 18, 2017

Jack L. Bertolas, Jr, age 73 of Hanna, WY passed on Saturday, November 18th due to a short illness with his family at his side. He was born March 20, 1944 in Virginia, MN, the son of Jack and Betty Bertolas. He graduated Roosevelt High School in 1962. A cowboy at heart, it seems Jack was born 100 years after his time. He lived a wild and crazy life with no regrets. Between the mountains and the plains of Wyoming, he spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He had a love for animals of every kind; they were family to him. As one of the last original cowboys and almost 45 years of knowledge and experience, his boots will be hard to fill. When asked by a doctor if he would change the way he lived, had he known then what he knows now, he simply replied, "HELL NO! I had a lot of fun getting this way!" You see, he lived and he lived hard. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret; his second wife, Bev and his Great Granddaughter, Cassidy Solaas. He is survived by his brothers; Peter (Marylee) Bertolas of Virginia, MN; Tom (O'dette) Bertolas of Las Cruces, NM; Randy (Maureen) Bertolas of Wayne, NE and his children, Tracy (Harold) Newbrough of Rawlins; WY, Jerry (Yvonne) Solaas of Paonia, CO; Chris (Monica) Solaas of Rock Springs, WY; David (Aaron) Solaas of Rock Springs, WY; Jesse (Sunshine) Solaas of Hanna, WY as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial will be held January 13th, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in Hanna, WY at the HEM Jr./Sr. High School.
