Jean Archuleta

July 15, 1934 — April 2, 2014

Eugenia (Jean) Archuleta passed away on April 2nd at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Eugenia was born July 15, 1934, in her childhood home in the "Chupaderos" of New Mexico. She began weekly correspondence with the man who would be her life partner while he was serving in the US Army during the Korean War. He credited these letters with pulling him through. This would mark the beginning of a life together which lasted 62 years. Jean dedicated her life to raising six children and will be remembered for her unrelenting love of life and God. Before her health began to fail, she enjoyed embroidering, cooking, and being active in the VFW Auxiliary and Catholic Church. Her family was always first and it is her strength that her children would learn to rely on and call upon whenever it was needed. Her smile, sense of humor and gentle manner will be remembered by those who knew her. The life she lived served as an example of what a wonderful wife and mother is. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Valentine and Juanita Pacheco; sister Carmen Apodaca; brothers Tony, Pat and Leopoldo Pacheco, and her son Steven Archuleta. She is survived by her husband Arturo, daughters Senida (Cindy) and Barbara Archuleta of Rawlins, Eugenia Renee Martinez and her husband Manuel of Cheyenne, sons Gilbert of Rawlins and Joey Archuleta of New York; grandchildren JJ Franklin of Higginsville MO, Stefani Archuleta of Hutchinsen TX, Jenna and Kimberly Archuleta of Rawlins, Vincent and Victor Martinez of Cheyenne; numerous great grandchildren, sisters in law, nephews and nieces, and Cass Holloway of Seattle WA, whom she considered and loved as a son.
