Born June 29, 1931, Brooklyn, NY, and died August 24, 2016 in Rawlins, WY, at the age of 85. He was born to Anna Reicheff Teixeira and Jerome F. Teixeira and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. Jerry joined the Navy on July 8, 1948, and was discharged July 14, 1952. He married Mary Stoffa of Lansford, PA, and lived in New York until 1960. Jerry had a service station in West Chicago, IL. He organized the service station's Dealers Association. Jerry got his pilot license at Du Page County Airport in 1965. After the death of his mother, Jerry moved to Winfield, IL to care for his family. His children, Steven B. Teixeira and Joyce Ann were born in Brooklyn, NY and Jerri M. was born was born in Winfield, IL. Jerry and Mary moved their family to Wyoming in 1970. Jerry was a mechanic by trade but decided to build United Campground in Fort Steele, from dirt up! It is still standing today. He learned to drive a backhoe and dig ditches. That was his pride accomplishment. He and Jerri went on western trail rides and learned to be cowboys. Jerry showed the natives he could do it their way! He loved fishing the North Platte and also loved hunting deer and elk. The family moved to Rawlins and thought they would tour the USA on the Pace Arrow, but the children's lives changed this and they remained on 11th Street. Jerry's dad needed him in FL and he went to take care of him. Mary joined him later. The couple moved to CA to be near their grandkids, Vanessa and Jasmine, whom he loved dearly until he went to heaven to be with Steve, who was killed on May 8, 1976, at 23 years of age, as well as his daughter, Jerri, who also went to heaven on Feb. 12, 2013. So we, who are left behind are as follows: Mary, beloved wife of 64 years. Their anniversary was Aug. 23, one day before Jerry's death; Joyce Ann Dean, daughter, Campo, CA; Vannesa Mitchell, granddaughter, San Diego, CA; Jasmine Alexander, granddaughter, San Diego, CA; Jade Grac Chavate, granddaughter, San Diego, CA; Rose (Bob) Wilcox (spiritual daughter), Evansville, WY; Robert (Marie) Teixeira, brother, IL; Richard (Helene) Teixeira, brother, CT; Mary (David) Neiderkorn, sister, IL.
