Jerry Gale passed away in his sleep on August 12, 2025. He had been dealing with several health issues for the past two years.
He graduated from the newly built Rawlins High School in 1960. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department, Wyoming State Penitentiary, and then ran his own construction business for over 40 years.
Jerry was a kind person. Always ready to lend a helping hand or give you “sage” advice. He was full of joy. He could make you his best buddy in minutes. He never complained about anything except for the pain he had been dealing with in his body.
His favorite time was spending it at family dinners or celebrations. He just seemed to glow when we were gathered together. He took pride in the family he raised. He was so full of life and with the “wink of an eye” was mischief. Whether we were eating a meal, camping, or hunting, he would soon have a tale to share. Always looking for a way to put a smile on your face. His family was his world.
We worked hard all of his life. He took pride in accomplishing everything on his own. He rarely asked for help but was always willing to help you with your problem. He could “MacGyver” anything you put in front of him. He spent a lot of time in the forest and south of Rawlins fishing, camping, and hunting. He loved an adventure. He often said that he regretted not buying property out there.
He was a master craftsman. He made furniture from cradles to China hutches. He was always wanting to bet something done.
He is survived by his wife Mary Beth, brother Larry of Sheridan, children: Yvonne (Wade), Rose, Jerry (Vicki), Mary (Kevin), Gwen, and Julie. He has 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents John & Rose Gale, brothers Jack, Robert, Baby John and Thomas, and sisters Evelyn, Doris, Ruth, Violet Marie, and Ethel.
We will have a brief service on his favorite piece of land – 18 North Cherokee Road on Friday, August 15,2025 at 4:00pm. There will be a reception to follow The Depot.
