John F.
Jungck
Dec 6, 1944 — Jul 3, 2026
Rawlins
John Fredrick Jungck was called to his eternal home on July 3rd, 2026. John was born to Carl Louis Jungck and Doris Earnestine Voss Jungck on December 6th, 1944.
After a year and a half of asking Rita for a date, a rainstorm after a dance prompted Rita to say yes to a ride home. John and Rita were married in early spring in Hay Springs NE enjoying 62 years of love and adventures. They made their first home in a basement house on Mirage Flats; John working as a farmhand. In 1966 John started working as a journeyman lineman for Nebraska Public Power. John and Rita were blessed with the birth of their first born, Diana. John and Rita moved to Terry Town NE where they were blessed with their son, David. The small family moved to Rawlins WY in June 1973 and later blessed with the birth of their daughter, Janet. John worked as a journeyman lineman for Pacific Power & Light. He was promoted to and worked as a district line foreman from March 1978 until August of 1989.
John was never one to burn daylight and always found time to teach others. He taught his family to love the outdoors by building a cabin in Ryan Park. There, his children, under his guidance, learned to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and how to cut and stack willows when they misbehaved. As an active community member, he served as a captain in the Rawlins Volunteer Fire Department promoting training and getting safety equipment. John was active in church, later forming an American Lutheran Church with a small group of rebel Lutherans. John taught Hunter Safety to many, many students in Rawlins, and helped coach competitive shooting to the Empty Brass Jr. Rifle Club. John was always willing to help anyone, sometimes opening their home or business to those in need, and would often stop to help a stranger alongside the road.
In August 1989, John and Rita started a new venture buying Big Country Taxidermy, continuing to work together at John’s Taxidermy until 1995.
John was a driver for the Carbon County Senior Center until 1994. He later began driving school bus for Carbon County School District #1(CCSD#1) until 1996 when John and Rita moved to Saratoga where he drove bus for Carbon County School District #2 and continued his work as an electrician. John and Rita returned to Rawlins where he continued bus driving for CCSD#1 retiring in 2009. John was a beloved, often requested bus driver, who loved his job, his kids, and coaches; proudly delivering them to their destinations safely.
John spent much of his “leisure time” fishing with his best buddy, Ron. John learned to use the internet, usually searching for obscure gun parts to fix up guns he purchased. There was always a scrap paper, napkin or receipt that he would use to diagram and explain ideas that were always brewing in his active imagination. John didn’t know a stranger, sharing stories about anything and everything. Even as his health declined, John pushed himself to drive in the country, go on fishing expeditions, and weed eat the backyard later wondering why his arms hurt so much to the chagrin of his wife and family.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Doris Jungck. His sister, Jane Jungck Beguin and his brother Carl Gustav Jungck.
John is survived by his loving wife, Rita; children Diana (John) Ty and Robert Espy, David, (Barbara) Dana Ritzke and Matthew Chambers; Janet (Shane) Makayla and Michael Renneisen.
John will be laid to rest in the Swiss/Beguin Cemetery outside of Rushville Nebraska.
