In Loving Memory of John Goodman

John W. Goodman passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Saratoga, Wyoming.

John was born in Sheridan WY 1948. In 1962 the family moved to Maine where he spent his teenage years. John then graduated high school in Maine. He then attended Maine Maritime Academy. At the age of 21, John proudly joined the United States Navy, serving from 1969 to 1972. His time in the Navy was an important part of his life and something he carried with him throughout the years.

After leaving the Navy, John met Cathy Dighton, and together they had three children. In 1990 John and his son Kevin moved back to Wyoming where he spend the remainder of his life. Throughout his life, John worked in the oil field, a career he was passionate about and took great pride in. His work ethic and dedication were a reflection of the man he was—strong, hardworking, and committed to providing for those he loved.

John’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He spent countless hours supporting his nieces and nephews at their various sporting events, always showing up to cheer them on and be part of their lives. Family gatherings, time with friends, and simply being surrounded by the people he loved were some of his favorite moments.

After retiring, John enjoyed having more time to spend with family and friends and was able to take trips and make memories that he cherished. One of his special adventures was traveling back to Maine and to Alaska with his brother, Chuck.

John had many things he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved playing cards, fishing, golfing, poker, and cribbage. He enjoyed watching football and baseball, spending time with friends and family, and traveling. Above all, John loved his family, his friends, and his country.

John was preceded in death by his father, George E. Goodman; his mother, Guyla M. Taylor; his sister, Patricia A. Arnold; his brother, Marvin D. Goodman; his daughter, Ciji Goodman; his brother-in-law, Rob Loftice; his sister-in-law Donna Goodman and Aunt, Virginia Scanlond

He leaves behind his son, Kevin Goodman; his brother, Chuck Goodman; and his sister, Vicki Loftice.

John is also survived by his grandchildren, Ciji Goodman, Orion Goodman, and Grayson Goodman; his nephew, Robert Loftice; nieces Robin Loftice (Ken O’Leary) and Kim Loftice; Nephew Jed Goodman (Tonya Goodman); niece Jenny Goodman; great-niece Sierra Martinez; great-great-nephew Kodah Martinez; great-nephews Galloway O’Leary and Sloan O’Leary; great-niece Ashley Loftice; great-great-nephew Rhett Cruickshank; and great-nephew Charles Watts, along with extended family and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, his sense of adventure, and the countless memories he created with the people he loved. His presence, stories, laughter, and friendship will be missed.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories John made and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Rest peacefully, John. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
