Joseph Pete Torrez
October 13, 1942 – January 15th, 2026
Age 83

Joseph Pete Torrez was born on October 13, 1942 in Rawlins, Wyoming, to Pete and Ida Torres. At just 18 years old, Joseph made his way to Denver, Colorado. He often told the story of stepping out of Union Station for the first time, completely in awe of how big the city felt unaware then that it would become the place where he built a full, meaningful life and legacy.

In Denver, Joseph devoted himself to family. He raised four children and lovingly helped raise two of his grandchildren, guiding and shaping their lives with patience, wisdom, and unconditional love. He was an impeccable husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Steady, present, and deeply influential in ways that will be felt for generations.

Known to many as Sonny, Dad, and Pompo. Joseph was a loving man and a man of few words who carried quiet strength, deep wisdom, and an easy sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease wherever he went, and when it came time for real talk, he could sit you down and offer the best honest, and thoughtful advice rooted from life experience.

Joseph loved his Jazz and Spanish Corridos music that filled his home and reflected his soul. And no matter the time of day, you could always count on a hot cup of black coffee waiting for you when you walked through his door, a simple comfort that spoke volumes about who he was.

Joseph recently returned to Rawlins, Wyoming on August 17th, 2024 back to where his roots were. Being home brought him a deep sense of peace and happiness, and it was there that he lived out the rest of his days, content, fulfilled, and surrounded by the familiarity of the place that first shaped him.

Joseph Pete Torrez is survived by Daughters, Renee Gloria Torrez, Regina Lynn Torrez (Jamel Jenkins), Grandsons, Julian Torrez-Sanchez (Melisa Sanchez), Joseph Michael Torrez, and Grand Daughter, Vanessa Ann Torrez (Jackie Lopez Lopez), great-grandchildren Joseph, Jalissa, Maliyah, Julani, Giovanni and Luca, sister Patricia Perez (Melesio), nieces, nephews and loved ones who will forever cherish his presence, his lessons, and his love.

Joseph Pete Torrez was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Torres, Ida Torres, and his brother, Rudy Torres.

His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the wisdom he passed down. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
