Julia Priquet

Julia E. Priquet, 94, of Encampment,Wyoming, passed away July 5, 2013. She was born Oct. 13. 1918 in Laramie, Wyoming to parents Cora Martha and John T. Holmberg. She married John Melvin Priquet January 15, 1941 in Laramie. She was a loving and caring person to all around her. Julia was an active participant in the lives of her children and was always ready to attend sports events, drive on trips, and chaperone. She was among those who started the Jamboree Queen program. Together, Julia and her husband, Melvin ran the Platte Valley Express, bringing anything from medicine and milk to tractor parts and furniture to the Valley. Julia often drove the small truck to Saratoga for freight and back to Encampment where she would unload it. Julia was active in her church, the museum, homemakers, and involved in many groups and causes in this valley she loved. She was in Rebekahs for over 60 years and earned the Decoration of Chivalry. She loved to fish, and she fished until after she passed her 90th year when she gave it up to play dominoes at the Sagebrush Senior Center in Encampment. Julia is survived by her sons: Bruce Osborne (Jo Ann), and children Dean and Julie; Gary Osborne (Connie) and children Scott and Beverly; and Terry Priquet (Mary) and children Trina and John. She has several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Julia is also survived by her sister, Hazel Weir who is 102. She was preceded in death by Melvin, her husband of 57 years; her parents, a son, Harvey; and a daughter, Phyllis.
