Mary Vitalia Romero, Colorado resident, and long-time Rawlins, Wyoming resident, died Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Pueblo View Hospital in Colorado at the age of 93. She was born in Mora, New Mexico, on October 6, 1929 to Preciliano and Elisa Bernal. She married Joe L. Martinez and moved from New Mexico to Rawlins, Wyoming. Joe passed away in 1987. Mary later remarried Arturo Romero of Colorado. She is a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Saguache, Colorado.

            Mary is survived by her husband, Arturo Romero of Saguache, Colorado; 3 daughters, Judy Figolah and Arlene Martinez of Rawlins, WY and Bernadine Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 son, Joseph Martinez of Rawlins, WY; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

            She loved and enjoyed all of her grandchildren. She also loved gardening and had a “green thumb”, spending time with her family, her Spanish music and dancing.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter Angie Garcia, 2 brothers Lupe and Enemias Bernal, 3 sisters Viola Fernandez, Alice Medina, Lily Padilla, and 2 grandchildren.

            She is survived by one brother, Ben Bernal of Denver, Colorado.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Strohmayer's Funeral Home in Monte Vista, Colorado. Cremation has taken place.
