Melissa Scriven

Melissa Ann Scriven, 36, of Rawlins passed away July 7, 2018, due to complications from her pregnancy. She and Alex lost a precious little baby girl, also. Melissa was born to Greg and JoAn Scriven in Rawlins on March 17, 1982. She is survived by her parents, her brother, Jace Scriven, her beloved children, Ethan Scriven, Olivia Scriven, and Augustine Prieto, and the love of her life, Alex Prieto. Melissa was full of life and was loved by many friends and family. Her children were her life and she was their fiercest protector and their strongest supporter. They will miss her dearly. She will be remembered fondly by her many friends, who will never forget her. She is further survived by a large family and dear friends: grandparents, Joe and Annie Pacheco of Rawlins and Virginia and John Bennett of Brenda, Arizona; aunts and uncles, Rick Scriven (Nathan Scriven and daughter, Misty and Josh Shearer), Mike and Vicky Scriven and family, Wayne and Debbie Scriven (Debbie, Rachel, Elijah, Bethany), Joe and Theresa Pacheco (Andrea and Tim Fussell and children, Candace and Jason Andrada, Julia Pacheco, Jacob Pacheco), Dan Pacheco, Mike and Leslie Pacheco (Angie and Tracy Palmer and children, Dominique Pacheco), Ruth and Mervin Boyer (Amanda and Spencer Pittman, Stephen Boyer), Betty Shedden (Cody Shedden), Diana Pacheco, Ted Pacheco, Cathy and Scott Ogle (Sara and Branden Greenstreet), Ida and Juan Humberto Prieto (Alex's parents), the Modesto Cruz families, the Teodorito Pacheco families, and her close and dear friend, Janet Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, William T. Scriven; cousins, Michael J. Pacheco and Melissa Martinez; uncle, Layne Douglas Watkins; and Alex's mother, Rita Prieto. May God bless her and keep her in the palm of his hands until we meet again. A Vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wed. July 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs. July 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the Celebrant. No graveside services will be held. Melissa's and the baby's final resting place will be in Oregon. A fund has been established at the Bank of Commerce for her children.
