Paul Rodriguez

January 18, 1933 — February 23, 2017

Paul Nicholas "Nick" Rodriguez, 84, of Rawlins lost his battle to cancer on Feb. 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 18, 1933 in San Luis, CO to parents Estella (Jaquez) and Esperanza Rodriguez and attended school in Chama, CO. A Vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held Tues. Feb. 28, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed. Mar. 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Sam Hayes will be the Celebrant. Interment in the Rawlins Cemetery will take place at a later date. Nick served honorably in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, and had been self-employed for the majority of his life. He enjoyed working outside, spending time with family, fishing, going to Seminoe and gambling. He is remembered as a funny, generous, kind-hearted, loving husband and father with a witty sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nora; sons, Randy (Cathy), Andy (Barbara), Joe and Danny (Tammy); grandchildren, Crystal, Justin, Hillary, Brandon, Colby and Brittney; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Owen, Ryder, Lincoln and Clinton; sister, Rose Quintero; and brother, Alonzo Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elva Pacheco; and brother, Dale Rodriguez. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered, "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you pass away, And although we love you dearly We could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best!
