Robert Beck

February 28, 1928 — June 18, 2016

Robert LaVon Beck, Sr. passed from this life on June 18, 2016 , followed on June 28, 2016 by his wife of 65 years, Joan Ellen Beck. Both were surrounded by their loving family. Robert (Bob) Beck,Sr. was born on February 28, 1928 in Scottsbluff, NE to parents Ralph and Mae (Campbell) Beck. The family moved first to Riverton, and then in 1949 to Rawlins. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bob was a 50+ year member of the local Odd Fellows, VFW, and American Legion. He loved the outdoors. Bob worked 28 years for the UPRR. After retirement he worked another 30 years for Renzenburger and PTI. With Joan's help he ran a successful vending business for many years. Joan was born March 22, 1933 in Dodge City, Kansas to parents Russell and Glenis (Emery) Hull. The family moved to Rawlins where Joan attended High School. She later worked as a dental assistant, housekeeper, and finally at Herrud Jewelers. Joan had a passion for ceramics and taught the craft for Lorraine Pettigrew. She was a two time cancer survivor. Bob and Joan were giving, caring people who loved country music. By far their greatest joy in life was their family. Nothing compared to to being "Mom and Dad"! All five children survive to honor their memory, Robert Jr. (Marlena), Steven, David (Susan), Kenneth (Marilyn), and daughter, Renee (Trampas). Joan's sister, Carol Pascoe of Casper, WY also survives, as do numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services, with full Military Honors for Bob, have been held. Both services honored their well lived lives and they are buried side by side in the Rawlins Cemetery. Bob and Joan are forever holding hands.
