In Loving Memory of Rodney Reed

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney Reed, a beloved resident of Sinclair, Wyoming, who departed this world on November 14, 2023, at Carbon County Memorial Hospital, succumbing to a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Norfolk, Nebraska, Rodney was the cherished son of Don and Louise Reed.

The Reed family made their home in Medicine Bow, Wyoming, in 1975, where they lovingly raised their eight children. Rodney, a proud student of Bow Basin High School, filled his youth with the simple joys of riding dirt bikes, hunting alongside his father, and embracing the freedom of horseback riding. His early employment at Getty Oil in Shirley Basin foreshadowed a lifetime of hard work and dedication.

In 1986, Rodney embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Elko, NV, where he laid the foundation for a successful career as a heavy equipment operator at Nevada Gold Mines. Following the passing of his parents, Rodney found solace and joy in the company of his Uncle Charlie, forging a deep and meaningful connection.

Despite facing disability, Rodney discovered profound joy in spending time at the park with his loved ones, reveling in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching trains pass by. His love for nature manifested in the joy he found during drives through the mountains, appreciating the beauty that surrounded him.

Rodney was not just a hardworking man; he was a beacon of warmth and friendship, capable of making connections with ease. His infectious spirit and love for laughter made him a big kid at heart, and his mischievous pranks brought joy to all those fortunate enough to be in his company. A confessed lover of chocolate, Rodney's sweet tooth was matched only by his sweet disposition.

Rodney is survived by his siblings, Tania Vyvey (Kelly) of Sinclair Wyoming, Denise Reed (James Day) of Fairbanks Alaska, Lisa Reed of Fairbanks Alaska, Charles Reed of Gilette Wyoming, Jennifer Schanck (Richard) of Sinclair Wyoming, Don Reed (Jasmine) of Gilette Wyoming , and his daughter Miranda Fisher. He leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of twenty nieces and nephews, as well as twenty-nine great-nieces and nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Don Reed, his mother, Louise Reed, and his sister, Jayne Reed.

Honorary Pallbearer Charles (Chuck) Reed, Don (Donnie) Reed, Kelly Vyvey, Richard Schanck, James Day, Gary Vyvey, Matt Reed, Charlie Reed, Cody and Carl Spear, Don Reed, Ian Reed, Eli Reed, Tim Toops, Shay Harrell, James Mercer.
