Roy Edgar Britt, III, a revered member of the community and a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2025. Born on November 25, 1943, in Huntsville, Texas, Roy lived a life marked by service, diligence, and a passion for learning.
Roy’s career spanned numerous fields, demonstrating his aptitude as a jack-of-all-trades. He served with distinction in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he joined the San Antonio Police Department, where he dedicated two decades of his life from 1968 until his retirement in 1988. His commitment to public safety was further exemplified through various roles, including his contributions in north slope of Alaska, was involved in selling property and cars, hauling lumber, and other endeavors. Roy's experience at the Wyoming State Penitentiary reinforced his reputation as a versatile and capable individual.
Outside of his professional life, Roy had many interests that brought him joy. He was a staunch advocate for the Second Amendment and had a fervent enthusiasm for fast cars and politics. His love for history was evident in his habit of reading and learning about the past. Roy cherished the moments spent making rounds and visiting with his friends in Rawlins, where he was known and respected by many.
Roy leaves behind his son, Roy E Britt IV; daughter-in-law, Destiny D. Britt; and grandchildren, Katelynn E. Thomas and Berkley A. Britt. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, as his legacy of service, knowledge, and camaraderie will forever resonate within the hearts of his family and friends.
