Shirlene Kay Kohler was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 15, 1962, to Erwin and Mary Kay Kohler. She grew up in Cheney, Kansas on the family farm. In the spring of 1982 Shirlene met Rex Roberts. They dated through college and were married in May of 1986 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon Kansas. In April of 1993 they were blessed by the birth of their daughter Courtney.
On May 1st of 2025 Shirlene passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her loving husband, Rex Roberts in Saratoga, Wyoming.
Shirlene leaves behind her husband, Rex Roberts of the home; daughter, Courtney Mann and husband, Torin Mann, granddaughters Jade and Ruby Mann of Little Falls, Minnesota; sister, Dell Strom and husband, Brad of Thornton, Colorado; sister, Kathy Fleegel and husband, Steve of Willmar, Minnesota; brother, Glen Kohler and wife, Michaeline of Cheney, Kansas. Nieces and Nephews; Steven Fleegel and family of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Kristina Paulson and family of Spicer, Minnesota; Thadd Strom of Boise, Idaho; Jackie Lara and family of Shakopee, Minnesota; Laura Dishman and family of Hutchinson, Kansas; Tyler Strom and family of Denver, Colorado; Ginger Hoover and family of Willmar, Minnesota; Michael Kohler and family of Anthony, Kansas.
Shirlene joins her beloved parents, Erwin and Mary Kay Kohler and numerous aunts and uncles.
Shirlene was a graduate of Kansas State University. She began her career with the Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Her and her husband later relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she had 35-year career as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. She retired December 31st of 2024.
Shirlene was the kindest person that always did the right thing. In the words of her loving husband, she was an angel. She made lasting friendships easily throughout her life and truly enjoyed helping those around her. She volunteered with the Elbert County Colorado 4-H program for 14 years. She was active in St Ann’s Catholic Church upon relocating to Saratoga, Wyoming in 2023.
Shirlene greatest accomplishment was caring for her loving family. She cherished the time she spent with her granddaughters, playing outside, swimming in the pool, making crafts, like homemade valentines. She loved to plan family vacations, often to the beach, or just somewhere new to see. She was great at documenting all of our family adventures with pictures, of which we are so grateful! She enjoyed gardening and was named the Grand Champion Open Class Gardener at 2010 Elbert County Fair. Shirlene was an avid reader, often sharing all of her books with her sisters. She loved to watch movies and tv shows with her family, including her beloved Jack Russel Terriers, Chip and then Vinnie.
The family will hold a vigil on Shirlene’s behalf at 6:00 pm on May 8th,2025 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Saratoga, Wyoming. The Mass and Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Saratoga, Wyoming, with burial at Saratoga Cemetery, followed by lunch at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Hall.
