Stanley Ross

June 25, 1930 — March 1, 2017

Stanley Owen Ross, 86, passed away March 1, 2017. He was born June 25, 1930 in Rawlins, Wyoming to parents Margaret and Stanley Ross. Stanley graduated from Rawlins High School in 1949. He was drafted into the Marines in November of 1951. He served as a cook until 1953, achieving the rank of corporal. He was stationed at Ft. Bliss and Riverside, California. Later, he prepared many of the same recipes for family enjoyment. Stanley worked for 32 years for the Sinclair refinery as a warehouse foreman. Upon retirement, he developed an upholstery career and taught himself to refurbish iron stoves. Stanley will be remembered as a strong-willed, giving person. He was always there to help, whether it be family, neighbor, or community. His cute smile went with his dry sense of humor. Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, Wyoming football, the Denver Broncos, and his children's activities. He and his wife, Rubyalice took many trips with the heritage club - Australia being his favorite and Prince Edward Island being the most memorable. Stanley said he was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Stanley is survived by his wife, Rubyalice; two daughters, Karen Bennett (Melvin) and Valerie Sprecher-Roberts (Richard) and a son; two sisters, Miriam (Sally) Ross and Mary Jane Daniels; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Joseph Peach (Cathy). Stanley was preceeded in death by his parents, Stanley G. and Margaret E. Ross and his parents-in-law, Melbourne and Loma Peach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
