Stephen D. Welsh

July 17, 1967 — April 24, 2025

Rawlins, WY

Stephen Douglas Welsh, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on April 24, 2025, in Rawlins, Wyoming, at the age of 57. Born on July 17, 1967, in Houston, Texas to Mike and Joan (Price) Welsh. The majority of his childhood was spent in Westerville, Ohio, in a household filled with love, laughter, and the values of hard work and kindness. He graduated from Westerville North High School in 1985, where he played football, among multiple other sports. He continued his education and graduated from Hocking College in Ohio, studying to pursue a career in wildlife management. He later decided to switch course and did work for the police force.

Steve was a passionate outdoorsman, spending much of his free time hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and simply enjoying nature. He loved spending time caring for the livestock at his and wife Glenda’s little ranch outside of town. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, with whom he cherished spending all his time. Known for his generous, witty, and friendly personality, Steve brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was a man whose heart was as vast as the open skies of Wyoming, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Anyone who had the opportunity of eating Steve’s food knows he was a damn good cook, specializing in ribs and brisket.

When Stephen moved to Rawlins he worked for Wyoming State Penitentiary, finishing as a rig/ field operator for Anadarko, later transitioning to Southland Royalties/ Crowhart from 2003 to 2022 when he ultimately retired.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda (Reinick) Welsh, and two cherished children, Samantha and Matthew Welsh. He also leaves behind his father, Mike Welsh, his brothers, Jeffrey and Christopher Welsh, and a host of friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his loving mother, Joan Welsh, and his first wife, Shelley (Trautman) Welsh (m. 1999 - 2014). He is remembered not only for the love he shared with his family but for the genuine connections he made with so many friends throughout his life.

In this time of sorrow, the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the people who loved and knew Steve. As they navigate this profound loss, they take comfort in the knowledge that he held each of them dear to his heart.

A private funeral service will be held in his honor, celebrating a life well-lived. Stephen Welsh’s legacy of kindness, love, and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
