“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, loves leaves a memory no one can steal.” - anonymous Irish quote
Theodore J. Pacheco, left this world on October 16, 2025, leaving heartache for his family, yet the love in their hearts for him will live on forever. Ted was born on September 29, 1964, to Joe T. and Annie Pacheco. He was an avid sports fan, an incredible writer, and a kind and warm-hearted soul. Ted grew up playing sports and absolutely loving playing basketball and baseball, yet watching the Cowboys play football was a known pleasure. Ted loved music and movies. He could often be found listening to a wide variety of music from country to heavy metal or even Christian music. He loved going to concerts and sports game and loved watching a good scary movie. His greatest joys came from his family. He absolutely loved watching his nieces and nephews grow up and there was no secret that there was a special place in his heart for his niece Sara and her daughter Tegan. Tegan could make him smile when no one else could.
Ted grew up in Rawlins and graduated from Rawlins High School. He worked for a time at T’Keg as a bartender and eventually worked for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, as a custodian and maintenance man for the church and the Catholic school. Ted could often be found helping the ladies in the kitchen at the church preparing the meals for the various funerals over the years. He knew they needed the help and he was happy to be on the spot for them.
Ted battled kidney disease and was on dialysis for many years. After his transplant, life got more complicated and he battled many health issues that left him with two amputated legs. He didn’t give up, though, as he was working hard in therapy to adjust to two prosthetic legs in his last days. His body finally gave up the fight and he passed away quietly in his home.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Annie M. Pacheco, his nieces, Melissa Martinez and Melissa Scriven, nephew, Michael Pacheco, and two brothers-in-law, L. Douglas Watkins and Scott A. Ogle. He is survived by his father, Joe T. Pacheco, his brothers, Joseph Pacheco (Terri), Dan Pacheco, Mike Pacheco (Leslie), his sisters, Ruth Boyer (Mervin), Betty Pacheco, Joan Scriven, Diana Pacheco, and Cathy Pacheco Ogle, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
