Thomas Lee Hood, known affectionately to many as Tom, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Born on July 25, 1946, in Aurora, Illinois, Tom lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for family and community.

Tom's early years in Aurora set the stage for a lifetime of achievement and passion. He attended Oswego High School in Oswego, Illinois, where he excelled in football and baseball, showcasing his athletic talent and team spirit. Pursuing higher education, he graduated from Northern University in DeKalb, Illinois, earning a bachelor's degree in industrial psychology—a foundation that complemented his thoughtful and people-oriented nature.

In 1965, Tom answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served during the Vietnam War. His pride in serving his country remained a central and cherished accomplishment throughout his life.

Following his military service, Tom relocated with his beloved wife, Constance (Connie) Eleanor (Brown) Hood, and their two sons, in 1977 to Saratoga, Wyoming. There, he embarked on a longstanding career with Arch Mineral, contributing significantly to operations in both Hanna and Wright, Wyoming. His work reflected not only his commitment to hard work but also his steadfast character.

Tom was an avid outdoorsman whose passions included hunting and fishing—activities that brought him immense joy and numerous cherished memories with family and friends. His enthusiasm extended to sports; he was a devoted fan who never missed a game and took great pleasure in coaching baseball in Saratoga, a role that allowed him to give back to his community in a meaningful way. Beyond sports and the outdoors, Tom enjoyed working in his yard and playing cards, always embracing life fully and with great warmth.

Those who knew Tom remember his infectious laugh, welcoming smile, and unwavering kindness. He consistently went out of his way for family and friends, embodying generosity and love. Hunting trips with him remain heartfelt memories for those close to him, reflecting the joy and camaraderie he inspired.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Constance Eleanor (Brown) Hood; son, Nathan Hood; father, Donald Louis Hood; mother, Dorothy Jane (Kemper) Hood; and his brother Rob Hood. He leaves behind a loving family who carry forward his legacy: son Aaron Hood and his granddaughters Makenzie and Aydin Hood; siblings Donna Bardin, Jenny Tiffin, Rick Hood and countless nieces and nephews.
